I wouldn't recommend fitting a combi in a 4-5 bedroom house only if the customer was adamant on one. with the house this size, I'm sure there will be a minimum of 2 bathrooms plus other domestic hot water outlets. although the heating will work absolutely fine, the hot water performance won't be great.

Despite the fact that there are now combi boilers offering high flow rates I would still advise against installing a combi in a property of this size. Combi boilers are great for flats and smaller homes up to one bathroom + one shower room. Any more than that then stored hot water will be the sensible choice.

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend fitting a combi boiler in a house that size. I would recommend a normal central heating boiler and an unvented hot water cylinder. If the customer didn’t have the space for the above set up, as a secondary option I would recommend a store such as the Potterton Promax he store or a Worcester Highflow floor standing boiler.

Sizing of a combination boiler will mostly be done on hw demand (occupancy, number of baths/showers etc), flow rate and pressures. As a guide, a 4-5 bedroom home and an assumption on the number and type of outlets, would usually point towards a storage combi. At DLM Gas, we strongly recommend the Viessmann 111w for this application. We are a Viessmann trained Installer and can offer these appliances with up to 10 years manufacturers warranty.

Hi I would recommend a Worcester Highflown floor standing boiler which will come with a 10 Year Guarantee if you install a Worcester filter. This would also need to be installed by a Worcester accredited installer. The size is more in relation to the number of bathrooms rather then the amount of bedrooms. If you only have one bathroom you can opt for a wall mounted boiler ranging from 28kw to 42kw.

Depends more on how many bathrooms are in the property and what type of heating system you have. For example if you have a combination boiler, 3 bedrooms and one bathroom, going by average size rooms a 24-28kw combination boiler would be sufficient. The size of the boiler gets bigger with the size of the property and the amount of heat and hot water needed for that property. So the more rooms, windows and bathrooms

The best combi for a 4-5 bedroom house would depend on the amount of showers or bathrooms, the flow rate and pressure would need to be sufficient before choosing your boiler. we recommend a potterton promax store for a combi boiler with a flow high flow rate and great recovery time, more than enough to carry 2-3 showers.

For the Best Combi boiler for a larger property you first need to take into account the mains water pressure and flow rate as it won’t necessarily be as simple as the bigger the boiler the better the hot water flow if your water pressure is up to a decent standard then you need to decide if you have room and budget for a large floor standing boiler or if not a large wall hung boiler if you do have the space then you can’t go wrong with a Worcester high-flow, the 440 is a great model otherwise if you do not have the space or budget for a floor-standing boiler I would look at the Baxi 40 duotec or platinum wall hung combi boilers as they are good quality boilers that last and also don’t break the bank as much.

It depends more on the number of bathrooms/ hot water usage and incoming flow rate. An Unvented cylinder is generally a better option for these sorts of properties however they're a few combi's that may be suitable. Storage combi's for one something like a Viessmann 111 or 222. They have a small storage of hot water giving better flow rates then revert back to a standard combi if that runs out. Also something like an ATAG Economiser with a built in flue heat recovery gives you better flow rate than a standard combi and better efficiency.

The best combi boiler for a 4-5 bedroom house would be a boiler with a 35 kw output and above, the suitability of fitting a combi boiler to this size property should be checked out before hand by a Gas Safe Engineer, to ensure the requirements of the end user can be met, including how many bathrooms, showers and incoming water pressure.

I would chose between a Viessmann 222 combi storage boiler and an Intergas system boiler along with a fast recovery unvented cylinder. Along with Open therm heating controls would gas make usage very economical, giving the user great savings. Both boilers come with 5 or 7 years warranty.

for me a 5 bedroom house will mean a full busy house with multiple occupants with more than just one bathroom, if the customer wants a combi boiler installed and there is a good flow rate of mains water with a good amount of pressure then a storage combi would be a great fit, something like a worcester high flow or viessmann 222 that gives a flow rate of 20 plus litres per minute at 55 degrees for around 10 minutes, once the store of hot water has been depleted the unit will replenish the hot water in a matter of minutes to keep up the high performance.
