A convention or heat only boiler works on the basis of a heat element of your heating system the boiler comprises of a heat exchanger sited over a gas burner. The controls , the pump, the diverter valve are all external parts and for expansion the open vent will be above the feed and expansion tank within the loft. BoilerOne recommend you ask a gas safe registered engineer to advise on the best boiler for you.

A regular/conventional boiler heats a hot water cylinder and the heating system by external controls and programmers. All the controls are external ie the pump, motorised valves etc and are usually located in the airing cupboard with a hot water cylinder. The smaller header tank in loft fills the heating system and also takes the expansion when the heating is on. The larger tank fills the hot water cylinder and potentially the baths, basins & Wc’s. The heating system works on low pressure fed via the loft tank. A revaluation boiler can heat hot water and heating at the same time unlike a combination boiler.
