Most buyers will request a survey on a property before purchasing. this will bring up any issues with the building and its installations. If the electrical installation is not to a good standard he will recommend having an electrician do a report. if the report comes back that it's in poor condition then the buyer could easily knock his asking price down to reflect potential repairs when they purchase it

It will certainly give you peace of mind. And bring your installation up to date. Nowadays we tends to have far more electrical items but they use far less electricity. Trailing sockets in permanent use can be dangerous. We now have SMART electrical equipment and control systems. Almost all electrical items nowadays have delicate components, PCBs, LED or Neon lights. All of these can be damaged by even small transient voltages (power surges) so a rewire should include surge protection. In an ideal world anyone buying a house would have the electrical system checked so yes, a rewire should add value. Sadly many people only discover poor or dangerous electrics AFTER they move in, by which time it adds a kit to their costs when they need to get things fixed.

It will certainly add value to your house. It will give future buyers piece of mind that all electrics are okay. A rewire is a major project but definitely worth doing. At least you know it will be 25+ years before you need to do it again. You can make a house look beautiful with new bathroom, kitchen, painted walls etc but if your electrics are unsafe then you could end up doing it all again.

Re-wiring a house certainly does add value to the property . This kind of work should not be compared with extetions, loft conversions or conservatories etc. The latter 3 may cost more to add than you would get back, but a re -wire will always add value for any potential buyer.

I would say rewiring a house doesn't add value to a house, however it would make it much more desirable to a buyer as they won't have the hassle of of rewiring and can move straight in, the negative to this is they may have had sockets/switches and lights in different position to how you did it. I would personally leave it for the new owner to do and be willing to knock the money you would spend on a rewire off the property value

Rewriting a house adds soo much more than monetary value. It adds peace of mind, safety, resale value when you come to sell it. If you have 2 houses in the same street both of same size, similar spec and decor yet one has wiring from 1970/1980’s and the other one has been rewired in the last 5years it will be picked up on survey the potential buyers and their solicitors will undoubtedly try to get a £5-10k reduction in price due to the fact it will need rewriting. So although no monetary gain will be seen straight away when it comes to sell it will be self evident plus your property will be more appealing to customers.

Yes it does. 2 identical properties but one of them has had a rewire will have a noticeable difference in price between the two. It is peace of mind to a prospective home buyer to know that its another 25+ years before major works are required again.Rewiring is a major project so knowing that it is not required, and the wiring is safe is a massive selling point.

Rewiring a house will add value when you come to sell because when a surveyor comes to survey your house and sees that he is more likely to state this to there client which in turn then makes the house more valuable. Most people when buying a house want to know has it been rewired recently and this is due to the high cost involved and the upheaval that is felt when a house has to be rewired. But in general I would say that rewiring a house if it needs it is definitely a worthwhile task getting done.

A full rewire of a house doesn’t necessarily add instant value to your home. It does however make it more attractive to buy knowing that the electrics are up to date and safe. It could also save money as if the electrics are not of a satisfactory standard this may get brought up in a survey and a buyer would use this to negotiate the price of the purchase down.
