Plastering over painted walls is quite common. So you need to make so that the paint is not flaking off, if so scrap the paint off and use a good pva before plastering. The last thing you want is for the plaster to start cracking and fall off after a few months.

Yes you can plaster over previously painted surfaces as long as the paint is probably adhered to the substrate. If it’s not it will need to be scraped back and probably sealed. Most painted walls can be sealed with two coats of good quality PVA prior to plastering. Some walls such as gloss paint require a little more attention and I would recommend A good quality stabilising primer prior to skimming this needs to be left 24 hours before the application of plaster

Plastering over previous painted walls is fine and quite common. However, care should be taken to prepare the surface properly before plastering. Always use a trusted and reliable tradesman for plastering works. Remember the old saying..... Failing to prepare is preparing to fail!

Yes with the right preparation you can plaster over paint. Some paints tho will not take the plaster so always best to check with your plasterer and they can advise what would be the best course of action. Preparation is always key when it comes to plastering there would be nothing worse than having a lovely decorated room and a few months later the plaster falls off the walls
